Have we hit the jackpot?
Over the last several decades, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act prohibited states, aside from Nevada, from legally taking part in sports betting. Just recently, the Supreme Court voted to lift the law to legalize sports betting. This opens doors for many states, including New Jersey.
What does this mean for New Jersey? What does it mean for Rymax and for the incentive space overall?
In a recent article from ROI-NJ, Rymax’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Paul Gordon, acknowledges the potential of the future within the gaming industry. “It’s not like they aren’t involved in that [sports betting] already, so we can simply have them do it in a legal way while at the same time creating additional revenue for the state and casino businesses.”
The reality is that New Jersey casinos will take full advantage of the legalization and will begin incorporating sports betting into both online and on-site gaming; a move that can drastically change the landscape and the audience of casino play. The future of gaming lies heavily with millennials, a generation that has been proven to be difficult to capture within the casino industry. With almost half of all online players being millennials, casinos’ decisions to on-board sports betting could have a profound impact on their revenue.
With an additional component being introduced into the gaming world, there will be new and various ways for players to build reward points towards loyalty points. This opens the window to themed events and products, a way to get online gamers into the vibrant, casino doors.
This change has paved the road to the future of gaming, giving promise to not only Rymax, but the already growing gaming industry in Atlantic City.
