March: Black & Decker DIY Employee Engagement Challenge
Americans’ spend on home improvement projects has been steadily climbing for some time. However, the surge in spend and demand that was born of the COVID-19 pandemic is quite remarkable. NPR reports that Home Depot sales for the second quarter of 2020 were $38.1 billion, up 23.4% from 2019. Lowe’s reported $27.3 billion in sales for the second quarter, compared with $21.0 billion for the same period in 2019. In just one quarter, Porch.com tracked 330 million U.S. Google searches for home improvement work — an increase of almost 50% from the same period in 2019.
Porch.com conducted a home improvement survey for the 2020 year and the results highlight just how big the home improvement boom has become. Results indicated that 3 out of 4 homeowners completed a major project since the start of the pandemic, with roughly the same number of respondents indicating they have at least one project pending. These respondents include both Baby Boomers and homeowners that are 40 and under.
Regardless of their age, or the type of project they’re completing, homeowners everywhere are in need of the proper tools and equipment to get the job done!
