Fresh Perspective Friday: An Employee Redemption Experience
Welcome to our new installment, Fresh Perspective Fridays. FPF will serve as a vehicle for us to bring you inside the doors of Rymax – where you can better get to know our people, our culture, our philosophies and values.
At Rymax, we practice what we preach. We have a robust employee engagement program in place that rewards employees for years of service, performance and special achievements. This week we’re bringing you a first-hand account of our employee recognition program in action:
Meet Ryan. Ryan has been with the company for over a year now and recently used his points to redeem for an item he’s had on his wish list for quite some time. We asked him a few questions about how he earned his points, what he redeemed them for, why he chose that item and how he felt about participating in an employee recognition program. Here’s what he told us:
Rymax rewards employees who make an effort to reduce our carbon footprint by carpooling. So I first started accumulating points by riding with my colleagues to work events. In addition, I have earned points for helping my manager with major projects or presentations and exceeding performance goals. It always feels good to be rewarded and recognized by my manager for my hard work. I feel appreciated and can see that my work is making a difference in the overall success of the company.
After accumulating enough points, I went on our Maxsite website to determine which item I wanted. It was tough because we have thousands of options. I finally decided to redeem for one of the various active-wear products we provide, the Garmin Vivofit.
I chose this product for numerous reasons. First, I wanted a durable, everyday watch that I didn’t need to worry about breaking or getting wet and one that was stylish and appropriate for all occasions. Secondly, I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and focus on my fitness. The Garmin Vivofit was the perfect choice for me because it is sleek, doesn’t need to be charged and still keeps track of my steps, miles, calories and more. I wear it practically every day and especially when I am working out to monitor my progress and meet my daily goals.
I could not be happier with my decision to redeem for this item. Whenever people ask me where I got it from I feel a sense of pride in explaining how I earned it through hard work and professional achievements.
My Garmin gives me a tangible reminder of what my hard work can earn me and also provides motivation to any co-workers who see me wearing it. They too are inspired so set and meet goals. Employee engagement and recognition programs help foster positive attitudes, appreciation for the company and a commitment to company values among employees. Why would a company decide not to have one?
Ryan’s Story is just one of many here at Rymax that highlights the value of an effective employee engagement program and the positive impact it has on both the professional and personal lives of staff members. Positive reinforcement makes for happy employees – which leads to longevity, better productivity and increased revenue.
