Every two minutes in the United States, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.  More than 3.1 million women in this country have a history of breast cancer, or are currently finishing their treatment.  Even with the progress that has been made over the past decade alone, over 40,000 women are expected to lose their battle to this terrible disease this year.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease with the mission to help those affected and educate the masses on the importance of early detection.

While strides have been made in research, detection and treatment for breast cancer, there is still much more to be done in this fight.  For the thousands of women who are still working through their diagnosis, and for the countless women who have lost their battles, there are organizations, researchers and supporters who will not rest until a cure is found.
